The Room is a place with comfy seats, a circle, and real conversations about real issues. It is mainly student-led— the discussions, the questions, the personal stories, the topics, the prayer, AND the service projects. In the room we talk about our faith, but also find creative ways to live it out in front of people: standing at a red light street corner handing out fruit & donuts for breakfast, walking around the park asking people if they have one thing they really need prayer for, helping serve the homeless at a soup kitchen or by holding a clothing drive and other ways. James said, “Don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” If we aren’t careful, we are going to forget to be the church while we learn how to be the church.
We will go out and be the church, then afterward come together and discuss our experiences and what God did through us or afterward we’ll have a discussion about a relevant topic to teens or we’ll just read the word together and get lost in worship or we’ll split the room up in prayer stations and find creative ways to be in God’s presence. It will always be different, but always be meaningful. If you go to The Room, these are the promises— you will be used by God, you will experience God’s presence, and you will start to find your identity in God and in a community of peers. Grades 6-12. Coming Soon.
